Orphan Grain Train is a Christian volunteer network that ships donated food, clothing, medical and other needed items to people in 69 different countries including the USA. A new distribution/relief center will be built in Pasadena that will include a sorting area for donated items with a 7,400 sq. ft. of storage to house soft-good donations and construction materials needed for the rebuilding of homes following disasters along the gulf coast. Also in the design are shower facilities and two multi-purpose rooms usable as classrooms or bunkrooms, when needed, to house workers involved in relief work. Learn more

When disaster strikes, do you wonder how you can help? Join the disaster relief team to be first in line for serving our community in a time of need. Are you good with power tools? Do you enjoy working with a team to complete a project? Would you rather provide a meal for volunteers? All of these roles could be potential volunteer needs the next time a disaster strikes. If you would like to be added to this team, please send your contact information, and area of interest for serving, to Stephanie Knea.

Gloria Dei Lutheran Church will provide Disaster Relief Basic training on our campus facilitated by Lutheran Early Response Team (LERT). Together we will address the nature of disasters and explore what our response should be to disasters. The goal is to prepare congregations and individual members to be better prepared when a disaster strikes and to help them know how to respond within their families, congregations, and within our greater communities.

ESL AT GLORIA DEI

Our English as a Second Language (ESL) Ministry is dedicated to serving our community by providing free English classes in a welcoming and supportive environment. Our goal is to help individuals gain confidence in their English skills while fostering meaningful relationships.

Classes are held every Monday and Thursday from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. At this time, our ESL classes are closed for new students, and we will resume after the summer break.

Get Involved – Volunteer!

We are seeking additional ESL teachers and volunteers for Fall 2025. If you have a heart for teaching and serving others, we invite you to be a part of this incredible ministry. No prior teaching experience is required—just a willingness to help and encourage others.

For more information, please contact the Front Desk at gloriadei@gdlc.org and leave a message for Perla Rodriguez. We look forward to serving and growing together!
